On Wednesday Mr.Chua taught us about the " Merchant Of Vernice" from two worksheets. One of the worksheet was about Shylock and Portia in a conversation. The worksheet asked why Shylock vowed to cut a pound of flesh from Antonio before the day Antonio needed to pay him. This shows that Shylock wanted the pound of flesh and didn't care about the money.
The other worksheet shows Shylock and Antonio, Antonio wanting to lend money but Shylock refuses but if Antonio wasn't racist and didn't offend Shylock, he would have lended him money.
This worksheet tells us that we should be merciful and treat others equally.
If Singaporeans were racist, there would be fights against each other races every time so this passage tells us that if we treat others badly, next time they will treat us badly the way we treated them in the past.
Today's lesson taught me about treating people equally and not discriminating others. I feel that today's lesson was interesting as i learnt alot of things like not being racist and more.
If Singapore was racist, for example against Malays, the country Malaysia would be very angry and not sell Singapore fresh water.
This can be applied by treating other races equally and not discriminating them .
